What is the Ca:P ratio?
Calcium and phosphorus work together and play an important role in skeletal, dental, and muscle health, and normal bodily functions. What counts is not only the amount of each of these minerals, but the balance between them, otherwise known as the Ca:P ratio.
At ESSENTIAL FOODS, the levels of calcium and phosphorus are carefully tailored to the purpose of the meal and a specific canine life phase. Puppies, adult dogs and senior dogs have differing dietary requirements. Especially during the early growth spurt, the right mineral balance is crucial.
Tailored to canine life phases
A growing puppy does not have the same dietary requirements as an adult or senior dog. In addition, large-breed puppies follow a different growth curve to small-breed puppies, which is why they need a meal tailored to their size, growth rate and mineral balance.
At ESSENTIAL FOODS, each meal is formulated to provide the right calcium to phosphorus ratio. The exact ratio is stated in the nutritional information on each individual product.
